This inspection pertains to proof-load testing alloy steel chain slings. The inspection consists of the following:
- Visually inspect alloy steel chain slings for capacity tag, wear, nicks, gouges, elongation, bent links, and general deformation
of components.
- Upon passing the above visual inspection the alloy steel chain sling is then load tested to twice the working load limit
and recertified. This certification meets OSHA 1910.184 and ASME B30.9C standards.
- Each assembly that passes the visual inspection and the load test will be marked with a paint strip to show it has passed
all tests. If a chain sling is damaged and does not pass either the visual inspection or load test a red paint strip will
be used to single the chain out for repair or replacement.
- A group chain certification and a typed report, listing a description of all the chain slings inspected will be provided
to the customer.
